Apple is reportedly set to support RCS by this fall according to Google hints
Google temporarily displayed information on the new Google Messages page suggesting that Apple will introduce RCS support for iPhones in the fall, potentially with the iOS 18 update. This information was seen in the source code of the page and mentioned a better messaging experience for all once RCS is adopted by Apple in 2024. Apple previously announced that it was working on adding RCS support, without specifying a timeline. Google has been pushing Apple to adopt RCS to improve messaging between Android and iPhone users, allowing for hi-res media to be shared. Google also introduced new features for RCS last year, such as a profile, Photomoji, and improved audio quality for voice notes. The revelation about RCS compatibility for iPhones comes amidst a legal battle between Apple and the U.S. Department of Justice over alleged monopolistic practices, including the issue of “green bubbles” affecting user security.
