Cleveland has been awarded several honors by the Pro Football Hall of Fame in recognition of its history with the Browns.
– The Pro Football Hall of Fame announced the recipients of the third-annual “Awards of Excellent” for 2024, honoring 15 assistant coaches, athletic trainers, equipment managers, PR directors, and video/film directors.
– Among the recipients are former Cleveland Browns assistant coach Lionel Taylor and Cleveland athletic trainer Bill Tessendorf.
– The awards ceremony will take place on June 26-27 in Canton with Dan Fouts as the emcee.
– Lionel Taylor was an undrafted player who became a successful wide receiver in the AFL, playing for the Denver Broncos and the Houston Oilers.
– After retiring as a player, Taylor coached for the Pittsburgh Steelers and later became a head coach at Texas Southern.
– Bill Tessendorf was a long-tenured trainer with the Cleveland Browns before moving to the Baltimore Ravens, where he became the vice president of medical services.
