Lizzo announced on Instagram that she is quitting due to feeling constantly criticized and dragged by people online and in her life. It is unclear if she is quitting the music industry or just social media. The announcement came shortly after she faced backlash for performing at a fundraiser for President Biden while facing a sexual harassment lawsuit from former dancers. Lizzo expressed her desire to make music and spread happiness but feels like the world doesn’t want her in it. A lawyer for the dancers called it “shameful” that she was booked for the event.
