Louis Gossett Jr, known for his role as the voice of Half-Life 2’s vortigaunts, has passed away.
– Actor Louis Gossett Jr died at the age of 87
– He began acting in New York as a teenager and appeared in Broadway plays including A Raisin in the Sun
– Gossett won an Emmy for his performance in Roots and an Oscar for An Officer and a Gentleman
– He voiced the vortigaunts in the PC games Half-Life 2 and Half-Life 2: Episode One
– Gossett also appeared in the film Enemy Mine and founded the Eracism Foundation in 2006
– His final role was in a musical adaptation of The Color Purple
– Colleagues and fellow actors paid tribute to him as a trailblazer for Black actors and a true legend
