VP Kamala Harris commends Beyoncé for celebrating Black roots in country music

Beyoncé faced backlash for performing at the Country Music Awards in 2016 with the Chicks. She released a country album called “Cowboy Carter” featuring legends like Willie Nelson, Dolly Parton, and Linda Martell. VP Kamala Harris praised Beyoncé for reclaiming country music’s Black roots. Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer also showed support for the album. Beyoncé became the first Black woman to top Billboard’s country chart despite doubters.
