George Valera, of the Guardians, starts the season sidelined
Triple-A Columbus placed outfield prospect George Valera on the 7-day injured list due to a strained hamstring he suffered early in spring training. Valera, 23, will be inactive for the early part of the minor-league season as he continues to recover from the injury. Last season, Valera had a slash line of .211/.343/.375 with 10 home runs and one stolen base in 312 plate appearances for Columbus.
